Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU Lucknow) was originally incorporated as ‘ Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute, Uttar Pradesh’ word ‘Institute’ was substituted by the ‘University’ later. This was done to give a comprehensive national character to the Institute on lines with the other premier National Law Universities of the Country.

Objectives of RMLNLU Lucknow
- To advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of law and legal processes and their role in national development;
- To develop in the student and research scholar a sense of responsibility to serve society in the field of law by developing skills in regard to advocacy, Judicial and other legal services, legislation, law reforms in the existing laws and the like;

Admission Test at RMLNLU Lucknow
Admission to the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) (five years integrated programme) first year and LL.M. first year shall be made on the basis of CLAT
Eligibility at RMLNLU Lucknow
B.A. LL.B.(HONS.) Eligibility
The admission shall be based on the performance in the Common Law Admission Test. However, to qualify for admission, the candidate:
- must have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) securing in aggregate not less than 45% (40% in case of SC/ST candidates of U.P.) of the total marks.
- must not have completed 20 years(22 years in case of SC/ST candidates of U.P.) of age as on 1st July.
- The Candidates, who have appeared in the qualifying examination and awaiting for their results, may also write the Admission Test
- The intake capacity of B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme shall be 160 (one hundred sixty) + 16 NRI Seats per year
LLM Eligibility
- No candidate shall be admitted to the LL.M. Degree Course, unless he:
- has secured in the aggregate not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in all papers in the qualifying LL.B. (Hons.) (five years integrated programme) or LL.B. (three years programme) of a recognized University.
- has been selected on the basis of CLAT
Ph.D Eligibility
- Admission to the Ph.D. courses is based on an entrance test conducted by the university itself and the basic eligibility is a master’s degree in the relevant field.

How to Apply For RMLNLU Lucknow?
The application process for BA-LLB (Hons) & LLM:
Admissions to BA- LLB (Hons) and LLM are based on the candidate’s CLAT score. The application procedure for CLAT is as follows:
- You need to register on the official website of the CLAT and duly fill the application form present.
- Next step is to upload all the required documents
- Then pay the required application fee online through net banking debit or credit cards.
The application process for Ph.D.:
- In the case of Ph.D. admissions, candidates need to give an entrance exam conducted by the university itself.
- Candidates need to download the application form from the official university website.
- A written exam will be conducted along with a personal interview
- The merit list shall be put up on the basis of the entrance test personal interview score
- Eligible candidates need to pay the fee admission fee to continue.
