NLIU Bhopal (The National Law Institute University), was established in 1998 under the NLIU Act No. 41 of 1997 by the Madhya Pradesh Legislature, NLU Bhopal (National Law Institute University) is recognized by the Bar Council of India.

It is also a member of several prestigious organizations, including the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs), the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the Asian Law Institutes (AIL), and the International Association of Law Schools (IALS). Additionally, NLU Bhopal has signed MoUs with five foreign universities.

In the most recent NIRF 2024 rankings, NLU Bhopal is ranked 21st in the law category. The university has academic collaborations with institutions such as the Centre for Advanced Study and Research on Intellectual Property (CASRIP) in Seattle and Washington University for academic exchange programs. 3. LLM (Master of Laws)

NLIU Bhopal Eligibility Criteria

1. BA LLB (Hons)

   • Candidates must have completed their higher secondary education (10+2 or equivalent) from a recognized board with an aggregate of at least 45% marks. For candidates belonging to SC/ST categories, the minimum required marks are 40%.

2. B.Sc LLB (Hons) [Cyber Security]

   • The eligibility for this program requires candidates to have completed 10+2 or its equivalent. While specific details are not provided, students typically need a background in science or technology-related subjects, given the cyber security focus.

3. LLM (Master of Laws)

4. M.S in Cyber Law and Information Security (MCLIS)

   • Candidates applying for the MCLIS program must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline (such as Arts, Commerce, Science, or Engineering) from a recognized university. A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is required for eligibility.

5. PhD (Doctor of Philosophy in Law)

   • Candidates must have completed an LLM or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (50% for OBC/SC/ST/PwD candidates) from a recognized university. This ensures a strong academic foundation before pursuing advanced legal research.

NLIU Bhopal Selection Criteria

1. BA LLB (Hons)

   • Admission to the BA LLB (Hons) program is primarily based on the candidate’s performance in the CLAT UG (Common Law Admission Test for Undergraduates), which is a nationwide entrance exam. After clearing the CLAT UG, candidates must participate in the counseling process organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs), where seat allocation takes place based on merit.

2. B.Sc LLB (Hons) [Cyber Security]

   • For this program, the selection is based on merit. The university may conduct additional assessments or interviews, but the primary criterion is the academic performance of the candidate.

3. LLM (Master of Laws)

   • For admission to the LLM program, candidates must clear the CLAT PG (Common Law Admission Test for Postgraduates), a national-level entrance exam. Following the exam, counseling is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs), and seat allocation is based on merit.

4. M.S in Cyber Law and Information Security (MCLIS)

   • Admission to the MCLIS program is based on the candidate’s performance in the All India Entrance Written Test, followed by a Personal Interview. This process allows the university to assess the candidate’s aptitude and interest in the field of cyber law and information security.

Candidates who have cleared national eligibility exams like UGC NET, JRF, or SLET are exempt from the written test and can directly proceed to the interview stage.
