AILET is a national level All India Law Entrance Test conducted by the National Law University Delhi every year for admission to B.A. LL.B. (Hons), LL.M. and Ph.D. Programmes offered by the National Law University Delhi.
AILET 2024 Important Dates
The National Law University, Delhi has opened the AILET application form on August 7, 2023. The Last Date to apply for AILET 2024 is November 13. NLU will conduct the All India Law Entrance Test 2024 on December 10, 2023. The AILET 2024 will be held in offline mode, across the country. Eligible candidates looking for admission to BA LLB, LLM or PhD programmes offered by the NLU Delhi must fill out the application form and appear for the entrance exam.
AILET 2024 Application Process
The AILET 2024 Application Process has been released on August 7, 2023. Eligible Candidates who wish to appear in AILET 2024 will be eligible to register online and fill the application form by visiting the official website nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.
Step 1: Online Registration For AILET
The First step towards AILET Registration 2024 is to visit the official website of National Law University, Delhi.
For Registration process of AILET 2024, candidates need to create login account by providing basic information such as registered contact number, Email ID, Name, Parents Name, Address and Date of Birth.
Step 2: Selecting the Law Course For AILET
AILET 2024 Exam is conducted for undergraduate, postgraduate and research-level courses thus it is imperative for candidates to select the course they wish to apply for.
There candidates can find a drop down menu that indicates the various courses offered, i.e. BA LLB (Hons), LLM and Ph.D.
Candidates can proceed to the next step of filling out the application form after selecting the desired course.

Step 4 : Upload Scanned Images For AILET
The candidate should upload a passport sized photo that covers 75% of the photo of AILET Registration 2024. The photo should be within 150 KB and the supported formats available are BMP, JPEG, and GIF.
The Signature should be done preferably with Black Ink by the candidate on a clear light background. The signature should be up to 150 KB for AILET Registration 2024.
Step 5 : Payment of AILET Exam Fee 2024
The final step towards completing the AILET Application Form 2024 is to submit the application fees. There are two available modes of payment
1. Online
2. Offline
Online Mode
If payment is to be done via Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. Candidates should opt for ‘Online Payment Gateway’ If the transaction is done via Credit Card/Debit Card, then you have to give details like Card number, CVV no., and Expiry Date.
In case payment is done by Net banking, then a redirected bank’s site is shown where the account details of the candidate are confirmed and the payment is accepted.
After the process of payment is complete, the candidate will receive an acknowledgment slip on the registered Email ID. Take a printout of this acknowledgment slip and keep it with you.
Offline Mode
AILET Registration 2024 Application fee can also be paid in offline mode by selecting ‘Cash Deposit at Post’.
The nearest post office branch and city are to be selected and a challan is generated through AILET Registration 2024 portal.
Within 48 hours of challan generation candidates are required to fee at the selected branch for AILET Registration 2024.
One part of the deposit slip is kept by the post office for records and the other will be returned to the candidate.
Do not forget to collect the slip. When the fee is paid, the fee submission status is going to be updated within 72 hours and AILET Registration 2024 is complete.
AILET Registration 2024 Instructions
The candidate should follow the important instruction while applying for AILET 2024:
1. The candidate has to fill the application form in Online mode only, there is no provision for offline mode by the university.
2. The candidate should generate your registration id or password for filling AILET application form.
3. The application form is only accepted by the university after successful payment of the exam fee.
4. It’s always better to review the form thoroughly, so to avoid complications later. You may edit the field in case of any changes.
The candidate should be eligible to appear for AILET 2024 after the following steps mentioned. Failing to provide proper information will lead to complications later. The candidate should check the website regularly for further notice.
Eligibility for AILET 2024
Candidates applying for undergraduate or postgraduate course, they need to fulfill the common eligibility criteria for the AILET exam as under:
1. Candidates should have obtained the minimum qualifying marks and certificate as relevant for the courses.
2. If candidates are applying under a reserved category, then they should have a certificate issued by the competent authority stating the same.
3. If candidates belong to PwD category then a medical certificate issued by a medical authority stating 40 per cent or more disability should be available to be eligible under PwD category.
AILET Eligibility Criteria 2024 for BA LLB course
The eligibility criteria for AILET BA LLB course as mentioned by NLU Delhi is, “Senior Secondary School Examination (10 2 system) or an equivalent examination with 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities). Candidates appearing for the 12th standard annual examination in 2023 are eligible to apply.” , this means,
A candidates must have passed class 12 examination or equivalent examination from a state board/ national board of education – ICSE/ CBSE/ CISCE
The candidates must have obtained 45% of total scores in Class 12 examination, if they belong to General or OBC categories
Those belonging to SC, ST or PwD categories can claim 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks if they submit the relevant documents as a proof. If they have 40% or above scores then they are eligible for AILET 2024.
There is no relaxation in minimum marks for candidates belonging to any other categories other than SC, ST, and PwD.
If the candidates are appearing for their Class 12 examinations, at the time of filling AILET 2023 application form, then they can mention it, and state that result is awaited. Their eligibility will be ascertained at the time of counselling, on showing the documents for qualifying Class 12 exams.
AILET BA LLB Eligibility Criteria 2024 for Exemption
Only candidates belonging to OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals category are exempted to appear in AILET exam only if they secure 65% marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination. Other than this, no candidate will be exempted from AILET 2024 for admission to any law course offered at the law university.
AILET Eligibility Criteria 2024 for LLM course
Candidates seeking admission to LLM course at NLU Delhi need to fulfill the following AILET eligibility criteria as given below:
Candidates who have obtained an “LL.B. or an equivalent law degree with 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities). Candidates appearing for final year LL.B. annual examination in 2023 are also eligible to apply”, this means:
1. Candidates should have obtained a three-year or five-year LLB degree or equivalent law degree certificate from a recognized university.
2. They should have secured at least 50% marks in the overall degree examinations
3. Those belonging to SC/ST/PwD category have been granted relaxation of 5% marks i.e. they should have 45% marks in the degree examination.
AILET LLM Eligibility Criteria 2024 for Exemption
Candidates belonging to Foreign Nationals/ OCI/PIO category are exempted from appearing in AILET 2024. However, they need to fulfill academic eligibility criteria for AILET 2024 to secure an LLM seat.
AILET Eligibility Criteria 2024 for PhD course
Those appearing in AILET 2024 for admission to NLU Delhi’s PhD in law course need to fulfill the eligibility criteria as under:
“LL.M. or an equivalent law degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities)”, this means:
Candidates should have obtained an LLM degree or equivalent degree from a recognized university.
They should have obtained 55% marks in overall examinations of LLM degree to be eligible for AILET 2024
Those belonging to SC/ST/PwD category should have obtained 50% marks in the qualifying degree
AILET Admit Card
The National Law University (NLU), Delhi will release the admit card for AILET 2024 on November 20. AILET 2024 Exam is scheduled to be held on December 10, 2023. Only those candidates who have successfully completed their AILET 2024 application process will be issued an AILET 2024 admit. On exam day, the candidate must without fail carry with them the admit card and a valid photo ID proof. The AILET 2024 admit card contains details like the name, roll number, and date and time of the exam.
AILET Exam Pattern
The B.A.LLB is a five-year duration program at the National Law University, Delhi. As per the pattern, the AILET Entrance Exam for the BA LLB course comprises three sections:
Section A: English Language
Section B: Current Affairs & General Knowledge
Section C: Logical Reasoning
The question paper shall include 150 MCQ questions, each with one mark. Also, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrongly answered question.
The exam is conducted in offline mode, and the duration of the exam is 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes). As per the new pattern, authorities may use legal principles in the logical reasoning section to test your familiarity with legal reasoning. However, the entrance exam will not require prior law knowledge or a technical understanding of legal principles/terms.

AILET Marking Scheme
As per the notification, 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrongly answered question. Therefore, avoiding changing answers in the exam is advised, as it can lose potential marks.

Tie-Breaking Procedure for AILET 2024 Exam Pattern
As the Exam Pattern has been changed, there are some modifications in the tie-breaking procedure.
As per the new tie-breaker, if you and other aspirants scored the same marks in the All India Law Entrance Test, the following procedure would be considered while preparing the final merit list.
Higher marks in the logical reasoning section.
If the merit is still the same, aspirants of higher age will be given priority.
If there is no merit change, authorities shall consider computerized draw of lots.
AILET LLM Exam Pattern 2024
The LLM is a postgraduate degree course conducted for a one-two year duration. According to the modified AILET LLM Exam Pattern, the question paper will have two sections: Section A comprises 100 multiple-choice questions, and Section B will have two descriptive questions.
Section A is divided into two parts, as listed below:
Part 1: English Language (25 marks)
Part 2: Legal Reasoning (50 marks)
Section B will have eight to ten questions from different branches of law. However, you must answer two descriptive questions with 25 marks each.
The exam conducting body will prepare the final rank by combining the scores in Sections A and B. If you and other students scored the same marks, then the merit list is prepared based on the following factors:

AILET PhD. Exam Pattern 2024
Getting admission to the PhD program at the National Law University of Delhi requires considerable effort.
The question paper will have two sections: Section A and Section B.
The question in section A tests your legal knowledge and legal reasoning drawn from different areas of law. In contrast, section B will expect you to develop a research design response to the given factual scenario.
A negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrongly answered question in section A.
