The 66th Annual Grammy Awards, also known as the Grammy Awards 2024, took place on February 4, 2024. This year, the Grammy ceremony was filled with exciting wins, including Shakti’s victory for Best Global Music Album with their album “This Moment.”

- The winner of the Best Global Music Album award at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards was Shakti for their album “This Moment”.
- Shakti is an Indian fusion group consisting of Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, V Selvaganesh, and Ganesh Rajagopalan.
- “This Moment” is their first studio album in more than 45 years and features eight songs that blend Indian classical music with elements of jazz, rock, and other genres
- Zakir Hussain clinches an additional pair of victories, securing two more Grammys at the ceremony.
- He earned one for the best global music performance with ‘Pashto’ and another for the best contemporary instrumental album ‘As We Speak,’.
- The album also features Indian flute player Rakesh Chaurasia, the nephew of the renowned flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia.
- There are 15 Indians who have won Grammy Awards such as A.R. Rahman, Zakir Hussain etc

About the Grammy Awards 2024
- The Grammy Award, or just Grammy, is an award presented by National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences to recognize “Outstanding Achievement in the music industry” of the United States.
- The trophy depicts a gilded gramophone.
- The Grammys are the first of the Big Three networks’ major music awards held annually (before the Billboard Music Awards in Summer, and the American Music Awards in Fall).
- It is considered one of the four major annual American entertainment awards, along with the Academy Awards (for film achievements), the Emmy Awards (for television achievements), and the Tony Awards (for theater achievements).
- The first Grammy Awards ceremony was held on May 4, 1959, to honor the musical accomplishments of performers for the year 1958.

- Winners are selected from more than 25 fields, which cover such genres as pop, rock, rap, R&B, country, reggae, classical, gospel, and jazz, as well as production and postproduction work, including packaging and album notes.

- The Grammy Awards were first presented in Los Angeles in 1959, when 28 prizes were given.
